Music Engine, a Japanese orchestra specializing in video game music, has announced a concert to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Super Nintendo (SNES) role-playing game Lufia II.
The game, developed by Neverland and originally published by Taito in Japan under the title Estpolis Denki II, first released in February 1995.
North American players received the title in 1996 via Natsume, and Nintendo handled distribution in Europe in 1997.
Music Engine confirmed the performance will take place at Tokyo’s Ota Civic Hall on February 8, 2025, beginning at 14:00 JST.
The concert program will feature music from Lufia II alongside selections from the original Lufia, reflecting the close narrative and musical ties between the two entries.
Lufia II serves as a prequel to the original Lufia, exploring the origins of the antagonistic gods known as the Sinistrals and following the swordsman Maxim, an ancestor of Lufia I’s hero.
The title is widely noted for its soundtrack and its role on the SNES platform, and Music Engine’s set aims to highlight that legacy.
