Lumines Remastered, the 2018 remaster of Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Q Entertainment's original PSP puzzle title Lumines, is now available on Google Play and the App Store.
Published in partnership with rights holder Enhance and ported to mobile by Sound Games, the release brings the remastered version that previously launched on Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch to smartphones and tablets.
Background and platform history
Lumines debuted on PSP in 2004 and was led by designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi, who is also known for Rez, Space Channel 5, Child of Eden, and Tetris Effect.
The 2018 Lumines Remastered update modernized visuals and audio and was issued for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, including availability through the Nintendo eShop and various cloud gaming services.
The mobile ports complete the remaster's arrival across major gaming platforms.
What the mobile release includes
Sound Games confirmed the mobile edition includes the core Remastered content: 40 stages each paired with distinct music and visuals that span house, trance, and techno.
The mobile build offers Challenge mode, a 60-second Time Attack mode, local two-player Battle, cloud saves, and online leaderboards.
Players can sample the game for free: the first 15 Challenge stages and the full Time Attack mode are playable at no cost before purchase.
Pricing and availability
As part of the launch, the full mobile version is offered at a discounted price of £7.99 or $7.99 (or local equivalent) through the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
The release makes the longstanding audio-visual puzzle experience more accessible to players who prefer handheld and mobile platforms.
Why it matters
Lumines remains notable for integrating rhythm and visuals into falling-block puzzle mechanics, reflecting Mizuguchi's design focus on interactive synaesthesia.
Bringing the Remastered edition to mobile opens the title to a broader audience while preserving the modes and presentation introduced in the 2018 update.
For players on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, or PC, Lumines Remastered continues to be available on those platforms; mobile users can now download the official ports via Google Play or the App Store.
