The title will be available digitally on the Nintendo eShop on 30 July 2026, with a retail physical edition following on 1 October 2026.
This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition offers technical upgrades for players with compatible systems: the game runs in native 4K resolution on supported televisions and in full HD (1080p) handheld mode at 60 frames per second on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
Nintendo has positioned the release as both a standalone purchase and an upgrade path for existing owners, listing the digital game at £58.99 and an upgrade pack priced at £7.99 for those who already own Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Nintendo Switch.
The new edition adds gameplay features and content.
A highlighted addition is Merc Assault mode, where players choose up to six Blades and directly control them during missions.
In these scenarios, you command your selected Blades to perform objectives, deploy Special Arts and secure mission rewards through tactical play.
Nintendo has also confirmed a new Rare Blade exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: MOMO.
Nintendo explained that players will be able to battle alongside MOMO and switch between her two modes—Real Mode and Imaginary Mode—on the fly; changing modes alters both her appearance and her elemental affinity.
MOMO arrives with her own Blade quest, titled The Home of the Soul.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is positioned as both a technical upgrade and a content expansion, delivering higher-fidelity visuals and additional gameplay modes for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
The digital release on the Nintendo eShop worldwide is set for 30 July 2026, and a boxed version will be sold at retailers beginning 1 October 2026.
