SEGA Announces Free Demo for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties on Nintendo Switch 2

SEGA has officially announced a free demo for the highly anticipated Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and multiple console platforms.

The demo will be available starting January 21, 2026, offering fans and newcomers a first-hand opportunity to experience both the remastered classic and the brand-new sub-story before the game's full release.

The Yakuza franchise, known for its gripping narratives and dynamic combat, continues to expand its reach with the upcoming release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.

This latest entry bridges classic gameplay with fresh storylines, bringing together two games in a single package.

SEGA's announcement underscores the company's commitment to engaging their dedicated fanbase across both new and returning hardware, including the promising Nintendo Switch 2.

The demo allows players to immerse themselves in the action-adventure, beat 'em up gameplay that the Yakuza series is famous for.

In Yakuza Kiwami 3, users step into the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu as he explores the vibrant streets of Ryukyu, Okinawa.

Players will have the chance to switch dynamically between Kiryu’s iconic Dragon of Dojima: Kiwami fighting style and the weapon-focused Ryukyu approach.

Alongside engaging combat, the demo teases a variety of immersive side activities, including karaoke, sub-stories, and outfit customization, giving players a taste of the game's rich world-building.

Meanwhile, Dark Ties introduces an all-new narrative centered on the enigmatic character Yoshitaka Mine.

The demo offers a glimpse into Mine’s storyline as he navigates Kamurocho and participates in new side activities.

Players will also experience the innovative shoot-boxing combat system unique to Mine, designed to provide fast-paced and stylish encounters against rivals.

Though the demo provides generous access to both games’ introductory sequences, SEGA has clarified that progress made in the demo will not transfer to the final release.

This design choice ensures that all players start the full game on an even footing when Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties launches on February 12, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2 and additional platforms.

Celebrated for its blend of hard-hitting combat, vibrant urban settings, and memorable storytelling, the Yakuza franchise has consistently performed well in global sales and critical reception.

With the release of this demo, SEGA continues its tradition of offering compelling pre-launch experiences via digital storefronts such as the Nintendo eShop.

As anticipation builds toward the official launch next February, fans can prepare to revisit — or discover anew — the dramatic world of Yakuza on next-generation hardware.
