Sega Announces Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties for Nintendo Switch 2, Launching February 2026
Sega continues its momentum with the celebrated Yakuza franchise, unveiling Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and a range of other platforms.
Developed by the renowned Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, this remastered edition marks a significant step in bringing the series to a broader audience, following the successful Switch debut of previous Yakuza titles.
During the recent RGG Summit livestream, it was officially confirmed that Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will launch on 12th February 2026, with pre-orders now available for eager fans.
The announcement comes as part of Sega’s ongoing effort to expand the Yakuza series’ reach and celebrate the legacy of its iconic characters.
Originally released on PlayStation 3 in 2009, Yakuza 3 has been meticulously reimagined using modern graphics technology.
The upgraded version brings the vibrant streets of Okinawa to life with enhanced visuals, more dynamic combat, and additional cutscenes that further flesh out the game’s gripping narrative.
Fans can also expect a suite of minigames poised to deliver extensive replay value.
Once again, players will step into the role of Kazuma Kiryu as he embarks on an emotional journey to safeguard his loved ones amidst the turmoil of yakuza conflicts.
A standout addition to this release is the new story expansion, Dark Ties.
This exclusive chapter spotlights Yoshitaka Mine, known as Kiryu’s formidable rival.
Players will follow Mine's rise—from his beginnings as a venture company founder to his transformation into a full-fledged yakuza member.
The storyline explores Mine’s personal struggles and quest for meaning after losing everything, ultimately intertwining his fate with that of Kiryu and raising the stakes for both characters.
The announcement of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties for Switch 2 follows recent milestones for the franchise on Nintendo’s hardware.
Yakuza Kiwami made its way to the Switch eShop in October last year, paving the way for broader support.
Earlier this year, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut was launched for the Switch 2, and both Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are slated for release on the system this November.
With this new entry, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio reinforce their commitment to delivering the Yakuza experience to both newcomers and long-time fans across multiple platforms.
As anticipation builds for its February 2026 release, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties stands as another major milestone in the franchise’s ongoing journey.
