Nintendo Switch Online Adds Wario Land 3 and Wario Land 4 Play-to-Unlock Icons

Nintendo Switch Online has expanded its offerings with the introduction of special play-to-unlock profile icons for Wario Land 3 and Wario Land 4.

These additions cater to fans of the beloved platforming series and provide new incentives for engagement within Nintendo’s subscription ecosystem. For the uninitiated, Nintendo Switch Online is Nintendo’s paid subscription service, providing access to classic games from platforms like the NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance via dedicated apps for the Nintendo Switch console.

With these expanded libraries, players have the opportunity to revisit or discover classic titles, including the iconic Wario Land series first developed by Nintendo’s in-house teams in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The newly released Wario Land 3 and Wario Land 4 icons are available as exclusive content classified as “play to unlock” rewards.

To access these icons, players must start Wario Land 3 through the Game Boy app and Wario Land 4 via the Game Boy Advance (GBA) app.

Notably, unlocking Wario Land 4 requires an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, as the GBA library is reserved for Expansion Pack subscribers. After meeting the play requirements, users can unlock a set of five distinct character icons, each available for 10 Platinum Points through My Nintendo, Nintendo's official rewards program.

Once claimed, these icon designs become permanent additions to a user’s collection—even if their Nintendo Switch Online subscription lapses in the future. These exclusive Wario Land 3 and 4 icons will be obtainable on Nintendo Switch Online until September 1, 2025.

This timed availability encourages players to engage with the Game Boy and GBA libraries while earning high-value rewards for their profiles.
