According to the developers, Boltgun 2 is a direct continuation of the original title’s narrative and combat ethos.
Players will assume the roles of two distinct protagonists — Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath — and tackle a branching, single-player campaign that expands the series’ levels, enemies, and exploration.
Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games emphasized that each character offers unique abilities and weapons, encouraging different playstyles across the campaign’s multiple paths.
The publishers described the sequel as building on the “explosive combat” of the original game, with an expanded arsenal that includes close-quarters weapons such as the chainsword and heavier firearms like the Shotgun.
Enemy design has been broadened as well: the development teams highlighted new adversaries, including daemonic forces such as Bloodletters and their massive Juggernauts, which present escalated combat challenges as players progress.
Boltgun 2 will take players to a variety of biomes, from towering hive cities to dense mangrove swamps, each designed to require different tactical approaches.
The developers noted the campaign’s branching structure means choices will influence the route players take through these environments.
