Focus Entertainment and developer Auroch Digital have released a Nintendo Switch 2 build of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop.
Boltgun originally launched across platforms in 2023 and was previously available on the original Nintendo Switch; this newest release targets Nintendo’s next-generation hardware and is listed on the eShop for $21.99.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a retro-inspired first-person shooter that deliberately channels the look and feel of 1990s “boomer shooters.” The game casts players as a battle-hardened Space Marine who fights Chaos Space Marines and daemonic forces across large, fast-paced levels.
Focus and Auroch describe the title as blending classic, frenetic FPS gameplay with stylized pixel and sprite visuals that echo the era’s shooters while delivering modern performance and controls for contemporary consoles.
In an official overview, the developers highlighted Boltgun’s core combat loop and new features.
They emphasized visceral, high-mobility gunplay paired with a heavy Space Marine arsenal, noting the visual homage to retro shooters and the addition of a horde mode that is provided at no extra cost.
The overview framed the experience as a combination of run-and-gun action, explosive sprite-based effects, and high-impact weapons designed to reward aggressive play.
The Switch 2 release adds another platform option for players who want to experience Boltgun on Nintendo’s upcoming hardware.
The game remains firmly rooted in the Warhammer 40,000 license and continues to be developed by Auroch Digital and published by Focus Entertainment — the teams behind the original release.
Boltgun’s Switch 2 listing on the eShop carries a price of $21.99 for the digital download.
For readers tracking platform releases and ports, this launch underscores ongoing support for legacy and next-gen Nintendo hardware.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun’s mix of retro aesthetics and modernized FPS mechanics has kept it on the radar since its 2023 debut, and the new Switch 2 build makes that experience available to early adopters of Nintendo’s next console.
Availability: Nintendo eShop — digital download, priced at $21.99.
