Ubisoft has officially announced Rayman Legends: Retold, a remake of the acclaimed 2013 platformer, with a confirmed launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, 2026.
Co-developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, the release will also receive a physical Game-Key Card version that bundles Rayman Origins: Enhanced, a remastered edition of the original 2D adventure.
Overview and release details
Rayman Legends: Retold modernizes the franchise with updated 3D visuals, a newly written story and fully voiced cinematics while preserving the core fast-paced platforming the series is known for.
The game is available in multiple editions: a $39.99 standard edition that includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced; a digital-only Deluxe Edition adding the Retro Pack and an art gallery; a retail-only Launch Edition with a printed map, three lithographs and a slipcase; and a digital Deluxe Upgrade Pack offering Retro Pack content and the art gallery.
Pre-orders for any edition include the Hoodlum Havoc Pack with two costumes inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
Gameplay and features
Players can experience solo play or local couch co-op for up to four players as they explore a reimagined Glade of Dreams.
The remake introduces a never-before-seen sixth realm, new boss encounters, four all-new musical stages, and expanded activities such as dragon rides, the Cave of Trials, and a revamped Kung Foot mode with improved controls, power-ups and customizable rules.
The package also includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced, which adds 4K resolution, 60 FPS support, new collectibles, haptic feedback for compatible controllers and other quality-of-life improvements.
Developer intent (paraphrased quote)
Loïc Gounon, Brand Producer, described the project as an effort to revisit the defining elements of Rayman and present that experience to a new generation, while preserving fan-favorite content and expanding the series’ lore and world structure.
Audio and presentation
The soundtrack blends returning themes with new compositions by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope, both credited on the project.
Rayman Legends: Retold is positioned as a contemporary reimagining that pairs the original’s platforming DNA with modern audiovisual and convenience enhancements.
