Ubisoft has published a six-minute overview trailer for Rayman Legends Retold, the remastered edition of the acclaimed 2013 platformer Rayman Legends.

The studio says the title has been rebuilt in the Snowdrop Engine and will launch December 3 on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Trailer and story recap

The new trailer reintroduces players to Rayman and his companions Globox, Barbara the Barbarian and Grand Minimus as they traverse the Glade of Dreams.

Ubisoft’s presentation shows the quartet using both solo and cooperative moves to navigate levels and confront the returning antagonist known as The Magician, who has fragmented into five Dark Teensies.

The publisher frames the heroes as a ragtag team tasked with exploring the glade’s realms, defeating the Dark Teensies and restoring peace to the sleep-stricken inhabitants.

Key features in Rayman Legends Retold

- Engine and visuals: Ubisoft states the game has been rebuilt in the Snowdrop Engine, with redesigned environments and updated character models, including a refreshed version of fairy Betilla.

- Gameplay and content: The remaster preserves the original’s 2.5D platforming and four-player local co-op while adding a new sixth realm.

The release includes overhauled controls, additional power-ups, new musical stages and all-new 3D dragon-riding sequences that connect realms.

- Multiplayer and modes: Classic modes return, with Kung Foot revised for the remaster and Cave Challenges restored from earlier Rayman releases.

Franchise context

Rayman Legends originally released in 2013 and is widely regarded as one of the series’ standout entries.

The game was initially developed with a planned Wii U exclusivity, but following platform strategy changes at Ubisoft—partly influenced by the company’s prior experience with ZombiU—Legends moved to a multi-platform release.

Ubisoft’s decision to remaster the title in Snowdrop continues the publisher’s broader trend of updating legacy properties for current-generation hardware.

Availability

Ubisoft lists December 3 as the launch date for PS5, PC, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2.

Additional details, including eShop listings and post-launch plans, are expected to be confirmed through official Ubisoft channels and future Nintendo Direct or platform announcements.
