The latest UK physical game sales charts, compiled by GfK, have been released, and Nintendo has once again solidified its dominance in the market.
After briefly ceding the top position to Death Stranding 2, Mario Kart World has surged back to number one, reaffirming the enduring popularity of the franchise and the strength of Nintendo’s current hardware lineup—especially the Nintendo Switch 2.
The new charts, which track boxed sales for the week ending recently, showcase a familiar trend: Mario Kart World remains a favorite among players, its appeal undiminished despite stiff competition.
EA Sports FC 25 climbed to second place in the rankings, demonstrating notable cross-platform strength, with 43% of its physical copies sold on Nintendo Switch, followed by PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions closely behind.
Death Stranding 2, after an acclaimed debut, slipped to third position but continues to maintain healthy sales, speaking to Hideo Kojima Productions’ successful evolution of the series.
Behind the top three, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition occupies the fourth spot, with PC accounting for the majority of sales.
Notably, the Nintendo Switch 2 version contributed 19% of sales this week, indicating sustained interest in the platform’s library of enhanced ports.
The enduring success of Nintendo’s flagship franchises is further highlighted by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which saw 62% of its physical sales on the new Switch 2 hardware.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains a consistent best-seller, further reinforcing Nintendo’s robust first-party lineup.
Expanding the view beyond the top positions, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom returned to the charts at number 38.
The availability of free Switch 2 enhancements is likely boosting its visibility and sales.
Meanwhile, Sonic X Shadow Generations achieved a strong showing, with 38% of its boxed sales attributed to the Nintendo Switch 2—a testament to the platform’s appeal for new and legacy titles alike.
Other chart stalwarts include Minecraft, Hogwarts Legacy (with its largest share of sales on PlayStation 5, but significant numbers on Switch 2), Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Super Mario Odyssey.
Interestingly, platform splits across several titles reveal the increasingly critical role of Nintendo’s newest hardware: for instance, Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2 Fighters Edition saw a commanding 93% of physical sales on Switch 2 this week.
The current state of the UK physical game charts is a clear reflection of Nintendo’s ongoing hardware and software success.
Nintendo Switch 2 releases, backed by robust eShop and retail support, are delivering impressive results across both new launches and returning favorites.
As the year progresses, all eyes remain on how these trends will shape the industry moving forward.
