Total Chaos Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2: Release Date, Features, and New Game+ Details

Apogee Entertainment, alongside developer Sam Prebble of Trigger Happy Interactive and publisher Infogrames, has officially announced the arrival of the acclaimed psychological horror game Total Chaos on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Set to launch on April 29, 2026, the new port promises advanced hardware integration, enhanced graphics, and a suite of quality-of-life features for Nintendo’s next-generation console.

Originally gaining prominence as an award-winning total conversion mod of DOOM II, Total Chaos has evolved into a fully standalone survival horror experience.

Developer Sam Prebble, recognized for his prior work on Turbo Overkill and his contributions to Hollywood visual effects on films such as Avatar, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, has brought his expertise to create an intensely atmospheric and disturbing game world.

Built with the Nintendo Switch 2 capabilities in mind, Total Chaos will run at 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld mode, offering performance settings with unlocked frame rate options targeting 60 frames per second.

The port will fully support Joy-Con 2 mouse inputs and gyro controls, catering to players who desire precision and immersion.

The Switch 2 version will also ship with content from the recently released New Game+ update, which introduces an alternate ending, an imposing new stalker enemy called The Hunter, and additional gameplay content.

Total Chaos departs from conventional horror storytelling by drawing players into the desolate and decaying Fort Oasis.

Once a thriving coal-mining paradise, the island now shrouds visitors in paranoia, relentless danger, and haunting reminders of its catastrophic downfall.

Players will navigate nine meticulously designed chapters, leveraging environmental storytelling, scavenging for materials to craft and upgrade weaponry, and managing resources to outlast the terrifying creatures stalking the ruins.

Every choice—down to managing inventory and weapon crafting—directly impacts survival.

The game's hallmark is its deeply immersive atmosphere, achieved through a chilling original soundtrack composed by industry legends.

Akira Yamaoka, famed for his work on Silent Hill, teams up with original Total Chaos mod composers Jason Dagenet and William Braddell, as well as Apogee’s music team including Chipper Hammond, Tim Stoney, and Mathieu Hallouin.

The result is a soundscape that expertly straddles music and ambient horror, intensifying the game's nightmarish tension.

With the addition of New Game+, players can revisit the harrowing journey with expanded story content, new death animations, unexplored locations, and the perpetual threat of The Hunter—a stalker enemy who follows the player throughout.

This update adds considerable replay value, encouraging players to dig deeper into the mysteries of Fort Oasis.

Total Chaos for Nintendo Switch 2 will be available as a digital download on the eShop for $24.99.

The partnership among Apogee Entertainment, Trigger Happy Interactive, and Infogrames further cements the title’s arrival as one of the anticipated psychological horror releases on Nintendo’s next-generation console.
