Description

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to make a major comeback on Nintendo Switch, bringing skateboarding’s most iconic franchise to a new generation of players.

Developed and published by Activision, the highly anticipated remaster will launch for the Nintendo Switch platform on July 11, 2025, with a version for the upcoming Switch 2 hardware also confirmed, though a release date for that version remains unannounced.

This dual-platform release aims to introduce both classic and new features while honoring the legacy of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, which first set the standard for skateboarding games decades ago. A significant update has emerged regarding the structure of Career Mode in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (THPS 4), included as part of this remastered package.

While fans initially expressed disappointment that the mission structure would revert to the earlier, timer-based system seen in Pro Skater 3, a recent hands-on preview by prominent YouTuber andyTHPS—highlighted by Video Games Chronicle (VGC)—has revealed a much-requested feature: the option to significantly extend session timers.

By default, Career Mode sessions in THPS 4 will start with the familiar two-minute limit familiar to series veterans.

However, players will now be able to choose from multiple time settings in the options menu.

These include 5-minute, 10-minute, and even 60-minute sessions, enabling extended gameplay and proper exploration of the mode’s more expansive levels.

The ability to enjoy gameplay sessions for up to an hour addresses longstanding feedback from the community, who felt that THPS 4’s larger environments deserved more time for exploration and skill mastery.

Despite this welcome flexibility, the core mission structure won’t see radical changes in the remaster.

Missions are still completed organically while riding through levels, rather than being activated through character dialogues as in the original THPS 4.

While some fans enjoyed the previous format, this streamlined approach aligns with how Career Modes operated in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and its predecessors. In other notable news, fan-favorite skateboarder Bam Margera is officially returning for this new release.

Activision recently shared a behind-the-scenes video with Bam Margera expressing his excitement about rejoining the Tony Hawk franchise.

Similarly, Tony Hawk himself has reiterated his interest in seeing Tony Hawk's Underground receive a remaster in the future, noting in a recent interview that "I'm working with a much bigger company that's a lot smarter than me." With Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launching on the Nintendo Switch in July 2025, anticipation is high among both classic and new fans of the franchise.

The game’s blend of nostalgia, modern enhancements, and platform versatility promises to keep the Tony Hawk brand rolling for years to come.

Stay tuned for further updates on the possible Nintendo Switch 2 release and other additional features as Activision continues to build on this iconic skateboarding legacy.
