CD Projekt RED and partner studio Yigsoft have confirmed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will launch on September 29, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC.
The remaster updates the acclaimed 2015 open-world RPG with visual and performance improvements and arrives alongside a new paid expansion titled “Songs of the Past.” The announcement was highlighted during Gamescom coverage and accompanied by developer presentations and streams.
Release and upgrade details
According to the game’s official eShop page and the publisher’s announcement, players who already own The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch will be eligible to claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered for free on Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases.
CD Projekt RED clarified that the remastered edition will install as a separate download on Switch 2 and appear as its own icon on the console’s Home menu, rather than replacing the existing Switch version.
What’s included in the Remastered upgrade
CD Projekt RED describes the Remastered edition as bringing a broad set of upgrades across visuals, performance, and gameplay.
Key improvements listed by the developer include upgraded visuals and enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new Witcher sign effects, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviors, a reworked skill tree, transmogrification options, an expanded photo mode, and new finishing moves.
The studio said these changes are intended to allow players to experience the full adventure with modernized systems and presentation.

At Gamescom Opening Night Live, CD Projekt RED showcased a teaser for Songs of the Past and introduced a new region called Letten.
The studio portrayed Letten as a pastoral area steeped in rural tradition and festival culture with a lurking darkness that Geralt must confront.
CD Projekt RED is hosting guided presentations of Songs of the Past and the Remastered upgrade on the Gamescom show floor in Hall 8.1, with additional REDstreams scheduled on YouTube and Twitch for those not attending in person.
