CD Projekt Red has outlined key performance and control details for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2, confirming resolution targets, frame-rate goals and expanded input options ahead of the game’s launch.

The remake of the studio’s 2015 open-world RPG will arrive on Switch 2 on 29 September 2026, and CD Projekt Red says owners of the existing Switch edition can claim a free upgrade.

Pre-orders are available now via the Nintendo eShop.

Performance targets from the studio’s recent livestream show the remaster aiming for 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld.

Frame rates are being targeted in the 30–40 fps range for both handheld and docked play, with variable refresh rate (VRR) support implemented for handheld.

CD Projekt Red also noted that players using 120Hz-compatible displays are likely to see performance skew toward the upper end of that range, closer to 40 fps.

On controls, CD Projekt Red confirmed additional input schemes tailored for Switch hardware.

A dedicated mouse mode and gyro aiming are included; mouse mode can be set to always-on or configured to engage automatically when a Joy-Con is placed on a surface.

In journalistic terms, the developer said the remaster will offer a persistent mouse option or a dynamic mouse mode that activates based on Joy-Con placement, alongside full gyro support for aiming.

The studio also carried over a feature concept introduced in Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition by exposing Motion Patterns for in-game gestures.

As an example of those options, raising the right Joy-Con can be mapped to trigger Geralt whistling for his horse Roach.

CD Projekt Red showcased several of these mechanics and brief Switch 2 gameplay footage during the livestream, demonstrating how the new input schemes integrate with the remaster.

With a confirmed release date, upgrade path and input updates, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered’s Switch 2 release consolidates CD Projekt Red’s support for Nintendo hardware.

The game’s eShop pre-order listing and the company’s livestream remain the primary sources for these technical and control details.
