Description

After more than four years of anticipation within the modding and gaming communities, Slurm Team has officially released the demo for their Futurama-themed total conversion mod, Futurama: Hit & Run.

This ambitious project breathes new life into The Simpsons: Hit & Run—the cult classic action-adventure game originally developed by Radical Entertainment and published for PC in 2003—by transforming Springfield and its inhabitants into the world and characters of the beloved animated series Futurama. Futurama: Hit & Run began garnering attention as early as 2019, with development updates and trailers shared periodically on the team's dedicated YouTube channel.

The eagerly awaited demo finally launched on October 19, 2025, sparking excitement among fans of both franchises and the modding community at large.

Notably, this total conversion mod requires the original PC version of The Simpsons: Hit & Run, along with Lucas' Simpsons Hit & Run Mod Launcher, to install and play. True to its name, the mod immerses players in the futuristic cityscape of New New York, replacing the familiar faces of the Simpsons family with the quirky cast of Futurama.

Players step into the shoes of Philip J.

Fry, taking on four original story missions inspired by the hit TV show, along with a bonus mission, three street races, and one wager race.

The demo is packed with engaging content, including 25 hidden wasps to uncover, six uniquely themed vehicles to discover, and four unlockable costumes, ensuring plenty of replay value for fans and newcomers alike. The project has earned widespread praise not only for its creative direction but also for the quality of its execution.

Joe McGinn, the original senior designer of The Simpsons: Hit & Run, expressed his enthusiasm to the Slurm Team, stating that the mod looked outstanding and that he was eager to play it himself. However, one caveat accompanies the demo's current release: some non-playable characters (NPCs) feature AI-generated dialogue.

The Slurm Team has clarified this is only a temporary solution, citing the unavailability of the original Futurama voice actors for the demo launch.

The developers reassured fans in their official statement, explaining, "Professional voice artists are already engaged, and their recordings will replace the placeholder content in a future update." Still, the use of AI dialogue has sparked discourse, especially given previous public concerns voiced by key Futurama cast members regarding the use of generative AI in the industry. Despite this minor setback, Futurama: Hit & Run stands as a testament to the creativity and dedication of the modding community.

Those interested in experiencing this fresh take on a classic game can download the demo, provided they own a compatible copy of The Simpsons: Hit & Run for PC and have access to Lucas' Mod Launcher.

With official voiceovers on the horizon, this total conversion mod is poised to become one of the most notable fan-driven projects in PC gaming history.
