Nintendo Confirms Mario Kart Tour End of Service

Nintendo has posted an official end-of-service notice for Mario Kart Tour, the developer’s mobile entry in the long-running Kart racing franchise.

Launched for iOS and Android on September 25, 2019, Mario Kart Tour brought simplified, touch-focused Kart racing to smartphones under Nintendo’s supervision and was distributed as a free-to-start title through the App Store and Google Play.

According to Nintendo’s announcement, Mario Kart Tour will end service on September 12 at 11:00 PM Pacific Time.

The company thanked the game’s community for their support over the years.

In its post, Nintendo expressed sincere appreciation to the many players who enjoyed the game since launch and thanked them for playing Mario Kart Tour.

The mobile title represented Nintendo’s continued foray into smartphone gaming following previous mobile projects.

While Mario Kart Tour was exclusive to iOS and Android, the Mario Kart franchise remains active on Nintendo’s first-party platforms.

On consoles, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch continues to be the franchise’s primary release, and Nintendo maintains its digital storefront, the Nintendo eShop, for Switch users.

Nintendo has not tied this announcement to upcoming Nintendo Direct schedules or other platform releases in its end-of-service message.

The company’s statement focused on closing the service and acknowledging player support rather than outlining future plans for the franchise or related mobile efforts.

For players, the key fact is the confirmed shutdown date and time: September 12 at 11:00 PM PT.

Nintendo’s public message reiterated gratitude for the community that supported Mario Kart Tour since service began.

Media and players who contributed reporting on the announcement were credited; Nintendo’s post also included a tip acknowledgement to Magitroopa.

As Mario Kart Tour approaches its service end, the broader Mario Kart lineup continues on Nintendo Switch, where Nintendo offers full-featured Kart experiences through retail and the Nintendo eShop.

Developers and observers will watch how Nintendo balances mobile support with its first-party console strategy going forward.
