Dusk, a native PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, has been released online by the Twilit Realm team, offering a modernized way to play the GameCube classic.
The original Twilight Princess launched for GameCube and Wii in 2006, and an HD remaster was released for Wii U in 2016.
Dusk builds on that legacy with a long list of technical and user-facing improvements for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and Steam Deck.
The project is developed by members of the Twilight Princess Decompilation team, contributors from the Twilight Princess speedrunning community, and the Aurora team under the Twilit Realm banner.
An announcement trailer for Dusk was published on April 12, 2026, and the port was made available for download from the TwilitRealm website and the project's GitHub repository in May 2026.
As with similar fan-driven projects, players must supply a legal copy of the original game's files to run the port.
Key features included in Dusk:
- Unlocked, uncapped framerates including support up to 120FPS
- Higher resolutions and ultrawide monitor support
- Adjustable bloom and shadow resolution presets
- Mod-friendly options for replacing models and texture packs
- Cheat settings and other accessibility toggles
- Mirror Mode and other options inspired by Wii and Wii U versions
- Gyro aiming and the Wii U free camera mode
Dusk's team has explained some of the technical approaches used to achieve smoother animation at higher framerates.
A developer said the port uses skeleton interpolation to calculate intermediate vertex positions between animation frames, producing smoother motion when the framerate exceeds the original target.
In response to community questions about input options, developers noted that a team member is actively investigating Wii Remote motion control support, but there is no official confirmation that it will be included in the initial release.
This release arrives amid parallel work on other native PC projects for Twilight Princess, most notably Courage Reborn, which is led by Linifadomra.
Both teams have publicly stated mutual support for one another and have kept their development efforts separate.
Dusk's availability across desktop and mobile operating systems, plus Steam Deck, aims to give players broad access to the title outside of Nintendo hardware.
The project preserves features from the Wii and Wii U iterations while adding modern conveniences and modding hooks, making it a notable community-driven update to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for PC players and preservation-minded fans alike.
