Description

Team Ninja and PlatinumGames have officially unveiled Ninja Gaiden 4, marking a major milestone for both studios and reigniting excitement for one of the most iconic hack and slash franchises in gaming.

This announcement comes as Team Ninja, the celebrated developer behind the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, commemorates its 30th anniversary in 2025.

The latest title will be published by Xbox Game Studios and is confirmed for multiple platforms, including PlayStation and PC, sparking widespread anticipation and questions about a possible Nintendo Switch release. Ninja Gaiden 4 represents a landmark collaboration by fusing Team Ninja’s mastery of intense, fluid combat with the dynamic action and stylistic flair for which PlatinumGames is renowned—the latter best known to Nintendo fans for the acclaimed Bayonetta series.

According to a joint statement from the development team, players can expect a “legacy reborn with captivating style for a new generation.” The game promises to deliver visually impressive battles that demand both precision and strategic thinking.

New mechanics such as Bloodbind Ninjutsu allow for weapon transformations and destructive attacks, while franchise staples like the Izuna Drop and Flying Swallow make a return.

Additionally, legendary protagonist Ryu Hayabusa reemerges with a familiar, yet refined combat toolkit. The announcement also shed light on player-focused features.

With enhanced customization options, Ninja Gaiden 4 is designed to challenge series veterans while remaining accessible to newcomers seeking a high-adrenaline adventure packed with dramatic narrative twists. In addition to the main sequel, Team Ninja confirmed the immediate release of Ninja Gaiden II Black on Xbox, Game Pass, PlayStation, and PC platforms.

While no Nintendo Switch version has been specifically announced for either title, industry observers have noted Team Ninja’s strong history with Nintendo hardware.

Notably, Team Ninja developed Metroid: Other M for the Wii and brought the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection to various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, in 2021. Commenting on Team Ninja’s ambitions for their milestone year, studio head Fumihiko Yasuda told 4Gamer.net that, “In 2025, Team Ninja reaches its 30th anniversary, and we aim to announce and release titles truly worthy of the occasion.” This vision is further reflected in the reveal of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, a fresh side-scrolling installment co-developed with Dot Emu and set for a Summer 2025 launch across platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. As Team Ninja and PlatinumGames push action game boundaries and celebrate three decades of genre-defining development, fans across all platforms eagerly await further updates on Ninja Gaiden 4 and its potential expansion to the Nintendo eShop.
