Bandai Namco continues to celebrate its legacy RPG series this month with the arrival of Tales of Xillia Remaster for the Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
The highly anticipated remaster marks a significant milestone for Switch users, bringing the acclaimed PlayStation 3-era adventure to a new generation of gamers via the Nintendo eShop and physical releases.
Tales of Xillia first captivated audiences upon its original 2011 debut, and its arrival on the Nintendo Switch expands ongoing efforts to make the beloved Tales Of series more accessible.
The remaster delivers enhanced visuals and performance, catering to both longtime series fans and newcomers.
In a recent interview with Japanese gaming magazine Weekly Famitsu, Tales Of series producer Yusuke Tomizawa detailed Bandai Namco's ongoing commitment to future remasters and new experiences within the franchise.
Tomizawa confirmed that active development has begun on a remaster of Tales of Xillia 2, the direct sequel to Tales of Xillia.
However, he noted that the project is not yet ready for a formal public unveiling, emphasizing that "it is still in progress and will be announced when it reaches a suitable stage."
Tomizawa explained that Bandai Namco has "assembled multiple teams, working alongside various partner developers" to accelerate the remastering process.
With more than two projects underway, he highlighted that the timing of each remaster depends on both planning and development progress.
"Release schedules may vary, but our aim is to offer fans as many titles as possible, as quickly as possible," he stated.
Tomizawa reiterated that the next remaster in the Tales Of series will be revealed "relatively soon," aligning with their strategy to announce and release games when they are truly prepared for launch.
Beyond remasters, Tomizawa also touched on the future of original entries in the Tales Of franchise.
He reassured fans that the development team is continually planning new titles in addition to remastered editions.
"Just as we have done throughout the history of the series, we are always considering new projects.
While new title announcements will take some time, we also intend to engage players through live events, merchandise, and other promotional activities."
The Tales Of series recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, and Bandai Namco has reaffirmed its dedication to expanding the series legacy into future decades.
This latest wave of remasters for Nintendo Switch and other platforms is a testament to the company's ongoing support for one of its flagship RPG franchises.
Tales of Xillia Remaster launches later this month on Nintendo Switch.
