The latest addition to the Switch Online offerings spotlights the timeless platformer, Donkey Kong Country, originally developed by Rare and released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1994.

This new event rewards Nintendo Switch Online members for diving into the digital version of this treasured game through the Switch's official retro app. Following previous icon releases centered on iconic titles such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and the original Donkey Kong, Nintendo has now introduced a special set of user profile icons celebrating Donkey Kong Country’s legacy.

Players who access the SNES app and launch Donkey Kong Country can redeem exclusive icons featuring characters like Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong, Funky Kong, King K.

Rool, and a selection of the series’ memorable animal companions. To unlock these icons, Switch Online members must simply play Donkey Kong Country using the SNES app.

Each icon costs 10 Platinum Points, the virtual currency earned by engaging with Nintendo services.

The full lineup of icons can be previewed via notifications and official NSO Icons Alerts on social media.

This limited-time event runs until September 2, 2024, after which the exclusive Donkey Kong Country icons will no longer be available. It’s important to note that these rewards are exclusive to active Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
