Super Nintendo World Osaka Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Major Additions in 2026 Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan have officially announced a series of enhancements and events to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the original Super Nintendo World theme park in Osaka.

Opening on March 18, 2021, Super Nintendo World quickly became a global sensation, blending iconic Nintendo game worlds with immersive attractions.

Now, the park is preparing to mark its milestone anniversary with special events and exclusive experiences from March 18, 2026, through January 11, 2027. To commemorate the park's first major anniversary, visitors will be greeted by a massive star-studded cake display at the entrance, setting the stage for an exciting festival of activities throughout the celebration period.

According to Universal Studios Japan, guests will be treated to new limited-edition food options and exclusive anniversary merchandise, available only during this special occasion.

Details on the merchandise lineup are still under wraps, but the park has teased that more information will come closer to the anniversary date. In a major first for Super Nintendo World, Yoshi will make his in-park debut at a dedicated Meet & Greet area.

Fans of the green dinosaur will finally have the chance to interact and take photos with one of Nintendo's most beloved characters.

This addition is expected to draw crowds, as Yoshi has remained a fan-favorite since his debut alongside Mario and Luigi in the classic Nintendo games featured on the Nintendo Switch and earlier hardware. A new interactive activity called the “Star Hunt” will debut during the anniversary celebration.

Universal Studios Japan representatives described the experience as an engaging adventure throughout the park, with live performances by Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and other familiar Nintendo characters.

Visitors will be tasked with searching for Super Stars hidden across the park, adding a fresh layer of excitement and interactivity that aligns with the spirit of Nintendo’s iconic games.

While it has yet to be confirmed whether prizes will be awarded, the activity promises to enhance the immersive atmosphere that Super Nintendo World is known for. Super Nintendo World’s impact extends beyond Osaka, with locations now open at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles and Universal Orlando Resort in Florida.

An upcoming Super Nintendo World in Singapore will further solidify the brand's global presence.

Since opening, the Osaka park has garnered acclaim for its innovative blend of digital and physical experiences, drawing both avid Nintendo fans and newcomers alike. As Super Nintendo World prepares for its 5th anniversary, these new attractions and activities highlight Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan's ongoing commitment to evolving the park experience.
