Square Enix has confirmed it is considering whether Final Fantasy XV could run on Nintendo's hardware, but stopped short of announcing a concrete port.

The comment came during Square Enix's annual shareholders meeting, where executives were asked about the possibility of bringing the full Final Fantasy XV experience to Nintendo Switch platforms.

Final Fantasy XV, originally released in late 2016, remains one of Square Enix's largest single-player projects.

While several Final Fantasy titles have been made available on Nintendo platforms through Nintendo eShop releases and remasters, Final Fantasy XV's complete edition has not been released on Nintendo Switch.

The title has appeared on Switch in one form: Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD, a reimagined version of the game designed for scaled-down platforms.

At the shareholders meeting, Square Enix addressed a question about porting Final Fantasy XV to Nintendo's next-generation hardware.

Company representatives summarized their position by saying that while there are hardware limitations to consider, from a technical-specification perspective a port is not impossible and thus remains under consideration.

In journalistic terms, Square Enix conveyed that a Switch-family release is not ruled out but requires technical evaluation.

Hajime Tabata, the director who led Final Fantasy XV's original development, previously acknowledged that the studio investigated bringing the game to Nintendo platforms.

That inquiry ultimately led to the Pocket Edition adaptation rather than a full native port of the original console experience.

For Nintendo Switch owners and Final Fantasy fans, the distinction between Pocket Edition HD and the full Final Fantasy XV experience is important: the Pocket Edition offers an abridged presentation tailored to portable play, whereas the original title released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016 was built for higher-spec consoles.

Square Enix's comment does not include a timeline, confirmed development partner, or release window.

Until the publisher provides an official announcement, the only verified points remain Square Enix's acknowledgment that a full port is being considered and that Final Fantasy XV has previously appeared on Nintendo Switch as the Pocket Edition HD.

Developers and platform holders typically evaluate performance, control mapping, and market demand before committing to major ports.

Readers interested in further updates should watch official Square Enix statements, Nintendo Direct presentations, and Nintendo eShop listings for any future announcements regarding Final Fantasy XV on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2.
