Nintendo has unveiled the eagerly anticipated Splatoon 3 Version 10.0.0 update, launching on June 11, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms.
This major update introduces a wealth of improvements, enhanced hardware support, multiplayer balance changes, new in-game content, and an expanded toolkit for competitive and casual players alike.
Version 10.0.0: Switch 2 Enhancements and General Gameplay Updates
Splatoon 3’s leap to Version 10.0.0 is particularly significant for Nintendo Switch 2 owners, who will benefit from smoother frame rates, increased screen detail, and higher image resolution.
Key locations such as Splatsville, Inkopolis, and Grand Festival Grounds now feature more fluid movement, while animation fidelity has been upgraded for both environments and character types, including Salmonids in Salmon Run and non-playable jellyfish characters.
Players capturing screens using Photo Mode or the controller’s Capture Button will see sharper images stored in the Switch 2 Album.
Meanwhile, for original Nintendo Switch users, background visual elements unrelated to battles have been minimized in ranked modes like Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, and Clam Blitz.
This adjustment aims to harmonize gameplay speed with Switch 2, reducing platform disparities without affecting Recon Mode visuals.
New Weapons, Stage, and Multiplayer Balancing
The update injects a host of fresh weapon options, highlighted by the introduction of the Splatlands Collection: Barazushi and Emberz weapon sets.
Players can access 30 new weapons—including variants like Splash-o-matic GCK-O, Jet Squelcher COB-R, and Colorz Aerospray—through in-game shops after installing the update.
Additionally, the classic Urchin Underpass returns as a new stage, broadening the competitive landscape.
Alongside the new equipment, Nintendo has fine-tuned weapon mechanics for greater balance.
Main weapons like the S-BLAST ’92 and S-BLAST ’91 now consume more ink and have slightly slower recovery times, offering opponents more room to counter.
Sub weapons such as Toxic Mist consume less ink but regain it more slowly to prevent repetitive usage, while special weapons like the Booyah Bomb and Triple Inkstrike are now more potent against Crab Tank armor, which itself has received a damage adjustment to allow more counterplay.
Competitive Feature Expansion: Series Weapon Power & SplatNet 3
For Rank S and higher players in Anarchy Battle (Series), the update debuts the Series Weapon feature.
This system tracks a player’s Series Weapon Power for each weapon, matching them with similarly skilled competitors and resetting at each new season.
Players can track their progress and high scores in SplatNet 3, which now also showcases the "Best Nine" weapons ranked by Series Weapon Power.
X Battles now display call signs during matches, auto-generated from equipped gear.
After battles, actual nicknames and IDs become visible on results screens, providing both in-match anonymity and robust post-game details.
Quality of Life and Fixes
Nintendo has raised the weapon Freshness cap to 10★, offering new badges for high-achieving players.
XP accumulated before the patch that exceeded previous limits will be converted into Freshness increases upon a player's next battle.
Other additions include new badges for users with multiple four-star or higher weapons.
On the technical side, the update addresses a series of bugs and optimizes performance.
Fixes range from corrected Squid Roll behavior, more accurate animations when using certain weapons, and improved stability in specific stages and modes such as Salmon Run, Side Order, and multiplayer maps.
A Note from the Development Team
Nintendo clarified that the adjustments to S-BLAST weapons are intended to increase counterplay opportunities, while Crab Tank changes aim to reduce its dominance in critical battle moments.
Updates to Toxic Mist are designed to support main weapon synergy but control repetitive sub weapon use.
The team confirmed that future updates will continue focusing on multiplayer balance, informed by data and player feedback from this release.
Splatoon 3 Version 10.0.0 is available via eShop or automatic update, underscoring Nintendo’s commitment to evolving one of its top multiplayer franchises across Switch hardware generations.
