Even the introduction was more industry-standard, with hardware leads introducing the device—similar to other companies.
The central premise seems to be, 'We made things better,' which aligns with standard industry practices rather than Nintendo’s historic approach."
Yoshida went on to observe that for gamers who solely use Nintendo platforms, the technical upgrade and closer alignment with competing consoles is a welcome change.
However, he noted that more dedicated gaming enthusiasts—those who own multiple systems—might find the third-party offerings featured in recent Nintendo Direct presentations less exciting in comparison.
Nintendo does have a history of both innovative leaps and iterative hardware updates.
The transition from the Game Boy to the Game Boy Advance and from the Nintendo DS to the 3DS both represented evolutionary improvements rather than radical departures.
