Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Announces SpongeBob SquarePants Crossover and Bikini Bottom Map for Nintendo Switch

SEGA has officially confirmed a major crossover event for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, adding iconic Nickelodeon characters SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star as playable racers.

The highly anticipated announcement was accompanied by a new trailer revealed during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, exciting fans of both franchises and signaling a wave of new content for the upcoming kart racing title. Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, developed by SEGA, is slated for release on September 25, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch and the next-generation Switch 2.

The game builds on the legacy of SEGA's character-driven racing franchises, introducing a vibrant roster, imaginative tracks, and robust multiplayer features tailored for Nintendo’s hybrid hardware platforms. The latest update confirms that SpongeBob SquarePants and his best friend Patrick Star will join the competition as part of the game’s Season Pass.

Players will have the opportunity to race through a newly designed track inspired by Bikini Bottom, complete with fan-favorite locations such as the Krusty Krab and the ocean floor, all rendered in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds' signature colorful style.

The Patty Wagon, famously featured in the animated show, is set to make an appearance as a driveable vehicle, adding even more appeal for longtime SpongeBob fans. "We’re thrilled to bring SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star into Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, giving fans the chance to race through Bikini Bottom and experience the Patty Wagon first-hand," said a SEGA representative in the official press release.

The announcement also confirmed additional crossovers planned for future content drops, including collaborations with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Avatar Legends.
