SEGA Expands Access to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds With Nintendo Switch Demo
SEGA is set to offer Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds enthusiasts another opportunity to experience the latest high-speed adventure, as the company officially announces a forthcoming demo version for the highly anticipated racing game.
Beginning September 17, 2025, Nintendo Switch users will be able to download a single-player trial directly from the Nintendo eShop.
This demo arrives in the wake of a recent online open beta, but it features distinct content tailored specifically for solo play, providing new and returning fans an accessible preview ahead of the game's full release.
SEGA has clarified that this upcoming Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds demo is limited to single-player gameplay, focusing the experience on individual racers rather than the multiplayer features tested in the prior open beta.
Additional details regarding the exact stages or vehicles included in the demo are yet to be announced, with SEGA promising further updates as the launch date approaches.
A New Dimension in Sonic Racing
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds aims to redefine kart racing on the Nintendo Switch by introducing innovative features and expansive content.
The game invites players to race across diverse environments, spanning land, sea, air, and even outer space.
The signature Travel Rings mechanic allows racers to warp between 15 unique CrossWorlds dimensions across 24 dynamic tracks—each providing fresh challenges and surprises to keep gameplay unpredictable.
Players can choose from an impressive roster of 23 classic characters from the Sonic and SEGA universes, marking the franchise’s largest character lineup to date.
Vehicle customization is another key component, with 45 original vehicles and more than 70 unique gadgets available for players to tailor their racing machines and maximize their performance.
Additionally, racers can utilize 23 different in-game items, including fan favorites and new power-ups like the Monster Truck, to gain a competitive edge.
Multiple Modes and Competitive Play
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is packed with variety, supporting both offline and online play.
Locally, up to four players can compete via split-screen in Grand Prix mode or enjoy the new party-focused Race Park.
Online, players from around the globe will be able to join up to 12-player World Match competitions or strive for record times in Time Trial challenges.
Release Information and Platform Details
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will officially launch on Nintendo Switch on September 25, 2025.
