SEGA has announced two themed Sonic The Hedgehog collections for the Nintendo Switch, slated to launch in October 2026.

Tied to Sonic’s 35th anniversary — the character first appeared in 1991 — the releases consolidate three-game bundles that separate the franchise’s classic and modern eras into dedicated physical editions.

According to SEGA’s announcement, the Sonic Classic Collection will include Sonic Origins, Sonic Mania, and Sonic Superstars on Nintendo Switch.

The publisher described the bundle as a way to “experience the Classic version of Sonic” on the platform; in journalistic terms, SEGA is packaging those three titles together to highlight entries associated with Sonic’s retro-inspired design and core 2D gameplay influences.

The Classic edition will be sold as a physical package and will ship with a reversible 35th Anniversary coversheet and a branded logo patch.

The Sonic Modern Collection will pair Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Sonic Forces for Nintendo Switch.

SEGA positions this compilation as representative of Sonic’s contemporary era; the company said the Modern Collection is intended for fans of Sonic’s more recent, 3D-focused releases.

Like the Classic Collection, the Modern Collection will be available as a physical release and includes the same 35th Anniversary reversible coversheet and logo patch.

Both collections are confirmed to arrive in October 2026.

SEGA has not announced digital-only equivalents or eShop release details as part of this announcement, nor were pricing and regional availability disclosed at the time of the reveal.

The company framed the two packages as anniversary-focused physical products that bring multiple previously released Switch titles together in single boxed editions.

These collections reunite several high-profile Sonic releases on one platform-specific package for Nintendo Switch owners.

More information — including SKU details, exact release date in October, and pre-order windows — will likely follow in SEGA’s official marketing materials and retail listings.

Fans and retailers can expect additional announcements from SEGA as the anniversary month approaches.
