The release brings the arcade original — which spawned ports to the Famicom/NES and a Japan-only home version for the Sharp X6800 — to Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with updated features for contemporary players.
V'Ball debuted in arcades in 1988 from Technos Japan, the studio behind Double Dragon and the Kunio-Kun series, and was distributed in the United States by Taito America.
The original arcade hardware supported multiple cabinet configurations, including 2-player and a 4-player setup that appears to have been exclusive to Western releases; Japanese listings typically cite 1-2 players while American materials list 1-4 players.
