SiN: Reloaded Brings Classic FPS Action to Nintendo Switch with Enhanced Remaster

Atari and celebrated developer Digital Eclipse have officially announced the upcoming release of SiN: Reloaded for the Nintendo Switch, marking the triumphant return of a cult-classic first-person shooter.

Set to launch later this year, SiN: Reloaded revitalizes the 1998 original from Ritual Entertainment, introducing this groundbreaking title to a new generation of players on Nintendo’s popular hybrid console. SiN: Reloaded revisits the near-future dystopia where players step into the boots of Colonel John R.

Blade, a security consultant on a mission to thwart the nefarious plans of Doctor Elexis Sinclaire.

As the powerful CEO of SinTEK Industries, Sinclaire unleashes a DNA-altering drug across the city, spawning genetically engineered mutants and pushing the boundaries of morality.

Combining an engaging storyline with innovative game mechanics, SiN quickly earned recognition for stretching the capabilities of the Quake II engine, setting new standards for interactivity and dynamic level design. The remastered edition, developed in partnership with gaming industry veterans Digital Eclipse, features significantly upgraded visuals, including HD textures and models with support for up to 4K resolution and 144 FPS, anti-aliasing, and reworked menu art.

Control schemes have been thoroughly modernized for both gamepad and mouse-and-keyboard players, ensuring a seamless and comfortable gameplay experience on Nintendo Switch.

SiN: Reloaded also incorporates improved maps, a contemporary user interface, and the ability to toggle between the enhanced remaster and the original SiN Gold version, offering flexibility and nostalgia for longtime fans. Exploring the pioneering features that set SiN apart in its time, players will once again be able to hack into computer terminals using authentic DOS-style code, manipulate the environment via elevators and security cameras, and utilize an array of vehicles, from forklifts to helicopters.

The game’s dynamic choices persist in the remaster, allowing for branching paths based on player actions and delivering a personalized progression through the campaign.

Combat innovations, like shooting weapons out of enemy hands and targeting specific body parts, have been faithfully preserved and polished for today’s hardware. Included with this release is the Wages of SiN mission pack, an additional campaign that challenges players against a formidable mafia boss commanding a new legion of dangerous adversaries.

Both campaigns run on the robust KEX Engine—known for bringing classic games to modern systems—with precise graphical remastering achieved by the skilled team at Nightdive Studios. SiN: Reloaded for Nintendo Switch also debuts new achievements, higher resolution tracks from composer Zak Belika remixed by Chris Mock, and a special vault offering exclusive behind-the-scenes content.

This combination of classic gameplay and modern enhancements is set to deliver an unparalleled experience for both returning fans and newcomers alike. A release date for SiN: Reloaded has yet to be confirmed, but with its impressive technical and gameplay upgrades, anticipation is already high.
