JKM Corp has confirmed that Shadow Gangs Zero, the follow-up to 2020's Shadow Gangs, will arrive on Steam on October 27, 2026.
The studio originally pitched the project in 2024 as the "highly anticipated sequel" to Shadow Gangs and has positioned the new release as an homage to arcade-era action titles.
The project began life as a Neo Geo-focused title.
A 2024 Kickstarter campaign raised £139,165 to fund development and broaden the release plan to additional platforms, including the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Dreamcast, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
A Neo Geo beta build was distributed to backers in July 2026, and JKM Corp has since prioritized the Steam edition as its next public milestone.
According to the developer, the Steam release will serve as an environment to gather player feedback and implement adjustments before finalizing the physical Neo Geo version.
After the Steam launch, JKM Corp says its schedule will shift to complete digital and retail editions for PS5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, with legacy ports for Dreamcast and Mega Drive/Genesis to follow.
The live Steam store page lists core features and scope: two playable characters, Dan and Monika; 43 levels; 12 bosses split between main bosses and mini-bosses; two bonus stages; and two-player local co-op.
JKM Corp describes the game as a fast-paced 2D ninja action platformer that blends classic arcade gameplay with detailed pixel art, fluid animation and modern refinements.
Players will use ranged tools such as shurikens, engage in close combat, and access a transformation that changes combat by equipping a machine gun and a katana.
JKM Corp has explicitly framed Shadow Gangs Zero as inspired by titles such as Shinobi and Bad Dudes and peppered with pop-culture nods — including visual references that echo comic-book villain archetypes and cinematic touchstones like John Carpenter's 1981 film Escape from New York.
