Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Hits Switch This September with All-New Soundtrack Remixes

SEGA has officially unveiled the latest updates for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the highly anticipated arcade racer set to launch on September 25, 2025, for Nintendo Switch.

As the release date approaches, SEGA is fueling excitement with fresh reveals, including a dynamic new remix of the game’s soundtrack and details on its multi-platform launch strategy. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds builds on SEGA’s legacy of high-speed, character-based racing, drawing inspiration from beloved entries across the Sonic franchise.

Developed by SEGA, the game delivers thrilling multiplayer action alongside a vibrant soundtrack curated for both longtime fans and newcomers.

In a recent press release, SEGA confirmed the release of their third official soundtrack (OST) video, featuring a DJ mix with six remixed tracks that tap directly into the series’ nostalgic roots. The newly released remix highlights music inspired by iconic courses spanning Sonic history: Apotos, Dragon Road, and Market Street from Sonic Unleashed; Galactic Parade and Sweet Mountain from Sonic Colors; and Radical Highway from Sonic Adventure 2.

SEGA representatives described the selection as a tribute to "the high-energy sounds and stage atmospheres that have defined Sonic’s racing heritage." Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will launch both digitally and physically for Nintendo Switch (commonly referred to as Switch 1) on September 25, 2025.

SEGA has also announced plans for the game’s arrival on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 platform.

While those purchasing on Switch 1 will have access to a paid upgrade path for Switch 2, the exact eShop release date for Switch 2 remains under wraps.

Notably, collectors and physical edition enthusiasts will need to wait until early 2026 for boxed copies of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Nintendo Switch 2.

SEGA emphasized, however, that the full version of the game will be included on the physical cartridge itself—a welcome move for physical media supporters. The Sonic Racing franchise has long enjoyed robust sales and a passionate following, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is poised to continue the tradition with its updated visuals, expansive track list, and fan-service-laden soundtrack.
