Fighting Vipers 30th Anniversary Soundtrack Announced for Japan: Release Date, Tracklist, and Details

In celebration of the legendary arcade fighting game's three-decade milestone, Wave Master Inc., the music production arm of Sega Sammy, has announced a new 2-CD "Fighting Vipers" soundtrack will launch in Japan next month.

This release is timed to honor the 30th anniversary of Fighting Vipers, a revered title from Sega AM2 first introduced in 1995.

The original Fighting Vipers drew critical attention for its 3D fighting mechanics, running on Sega’s Model 2B-CRX system board and following the company’s pioneering work on the Virtua Fighter series.

The game centers on a roster of young combatants, the Vipers, who enter a gritty urban tournament to prove their strength and resolve personal rivalries. Following its arcade debut, Fighting Vipers was ported to the Sega Saturn in 1996, later becoming available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and earning further recognition through appearances in games like Judgment and Lost Judgment.

The soundtrack, composed chiefly by David Leytze—a prolific contributor to Sega’s 1990s output—remains a standout element of the game’s legacy. Wave Master Inc.

has confirmed the new 2-CD set will be released on November 27, 2025, as the latest entry in the company’s Sound Shock Series celebrating classic Sega music.

According to the official product page, this edition features the original soundtracks from the arcade and Sega Saturn versions while adding two new "Sound Shock" exclusive tracks.

These include a special 2025 arrangement of the arcade prelude by veteran composer Koichi "Mickey" Namiki and an extended interpretation of the Sega Saturn opening theme. The collection will be accompanied by a bonus booklet with behind-the-scenes insights from Hiroshi Kataoka, who directed both the arcade and Saturn releases, along with commentary from Koichi Namiki discussing David Leytze’s original soundtrack and the new arrangements especially crafted for this release. Among the featured tracks are iconic themes such as "Armstone Town Day," "Big Factory," and "Viper Venom," with the updated bonus tracks bringing fresh perspectives to the foundational compositions.

A comprehensive track listing covers all the memorable music from both Fighting Vipers versions. The 2-CD set will retail for ¥3,630 including tax (¥3,300 before tax) and is now available to pre-order through the Sega Store Online, Amazon Japan, Disk Union, and Beep.

This commemorative release offers longtime Sega fans and music collectors an essential archive of classic video game music, highlighting the enduring influence of Fighting Vipers across multiple hardware generations and platforms.
