Volkov explained that he reached out to the seller with the intention of purchasing a unit for his gaming podcast, assuring the seller that he would not resell the device.

Within just ten minutes, the seller responded, indicating that he had access to another unit that was expected to arrive even sooner than anticipated.

Volkov ultimately secured the Nintendo Switch 2 for $800 USD, a significant markup from the US suggested retail price of $450. Addressing why he chose to reveal his identity on camera despite the risks, Volkov stated, in a paraphrased statement: He is unconcerned about potential repercussions from Nintendo, as the company has withdrawn its operations from Russia and lacks legal jurisdiction in the region.

Volkov emphasized that his motivation was not to boast, but rather to create content and showcase that, despite sanctions and industry barriers, Russian gamers remain passionate about accessing the latest gaming technology.
