Starfield, Bethesda’s much-anticipated open-world action RPG, could be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, according to recent industry reports.
This potential release would mark a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Xbox and Nintendo, offering fans a new way to experience one of 2023’s most talked-about titles.
The news comes from reputable industry insider NateDrake, also known publicly as Nate the Hate.
In a recent update, the analyst indicated that Xbox is currently preparing a port of Starfield for Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned launch window in 2026.
NateDrake previously gained recognition for accurately predicting the timing of the initial Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, as well as Square Enix’s plans to bring Final Fantasy 7 Remake to the upcoming hardware—a move that Square Enix officially confirmed shortly thereafter.
This speculation follows Xbox’s recent announcement of its first officially confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is targeting a 2026 release date as well.
The decision to bring high-profile titles to the Nintendo platform underlines Xbox’s shifting strategy to expand its reach beyond proprietary hardware and further integrate with the broader gaming ecosystem.
Bethesda, the developer behind Starfield, is celebrated for its history of genre-defining releases including The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout.
Under the direction of Todd Howard, Starfield originally debuted as an Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive on September 6, 2023.
Since then, it has remained one of the cornerstones of Xbox Game Studios’ portfolio, drawing considerable attention for its expansive universe and engaging gameplay mechanics.
Currently, Starfield has not been released on any non-Xbox or non-PC platforms, and the company has yet to officially confirm any plans regarding a Switch 2 version.
The report from NateDrake remains unverified by Xbox or Nintendo representatives.
However, the increasing collaboration between major industry players—and the recent confirmation of other triple-A titles arriving on the platform—creates anticipation for further developments.
Should Starfield officially join the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup, it would signal not just technical advances for Nintendo hardware, but also a continued trend of industry partnerships that broaden access to marquee titles.
As of now, fans of Starfield and Nintendo await further official announcements.
