Starfield Rating Hints at Nintendo Switch 2 Release: What We Know So Far

A major development in Nintendo Switch 2 game news has surfaced, as Bethesda Game Studios’ acclaimed RPG Starfield has been newly rated for the successor to the Nintendo Switch in Taiwan.

This marks the strongest official indication yet that the hit space exploration title could soon launch on Nintendo’s next-generation platform, recognized worldwide as the Nintendo Switch 2.

Starfield was initially released in September 2023 as a high-profile exclusive for Xbox Series X|S and Microsoft Windows, and it quickly became one of Bethesda Game Studios’ most talked-about projects.

Despite its exclusivity, industry watchers and fans have long speculated about the game’s potential to expand to new platforms, especially as Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy has evolved.

Now, a new entry in the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee database lists Starfield under Nintendo's hardware.

While the classification does not provide an exact release date or other detailed information, its presence strongly suggests that an official announcement for Starfield on the Nintendo Switch 2 could be forthcoming.

Past industry speculation about the port has gained traction since last summer, when commentator NateTheHate publicly claimed that Xbox intended to bring Starfield to Nintendo’s upcoming hardware.

As recently as last month, NateTheHate reiterated that the project was indeed in progress, though he noted that development had encountered some obstacles.

In his view, the port has not proceeded as smoothly as planned, reflecting the technical challenges of adapting a large-scale RPG like Starfield for a different system architecture.

Despite this new rating, it is important to note that neither Bethesda Game Studios nor Nintendo has issued an official confirmation or release timeline for Starfield on Switch 2.

The classification by a government ratings board is not equivalent to a formal product announcement, but it does lend significant credibility to ongoing reports and rumors within the gaming industry.

As always, fans are advised to await verified details from official sources, and any updates will be promptly shared by major news outlets as they become available.

The arrival of Starfield would mark another major partnership between Xbox and Nintendo on the Switch 2 platform.

Recently, Xbox confirmed that South of Midnight would be available for Nintendo Switch 2 owners, and the much-anticipated Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to debut on May 12, 2024.

If Starfield joins the Nintendo Switch 2 game library, it will signify a breakthrough for cross-platform gaming and highlight the increasing collaboration between Xbox and Nintendo.

Until then, Starfield remains one of the most requested games for fans eager to take their adventures on the go with Nintendo’s next-generation console.
