The twist, however, lies in its core mechanics—this entry replaces the usual direct control over a single hero with a system in which players spawn multiple characters, each marching automatically across the battlefield and attacking on sight.

The objective is simple: safeguard your base on the left side of the screen while advancing toward and demolishing your opponent’s base on the right.

While this shift to a tower-defense setup allows for a new strategic dimension, it departs significantly from the hands-on action fans expect from Metal Slug.
