Resident Evil Requiem Showcase Recap: Capcom Reveals New Gameplay, Collaborations, and Release Details for Nintendo Switch 2

Capcom wrapped up its latest Resident Evil Showcase with a comprehensive look at Resident Evil Requiem, providing new insights into gameplay mechanics, protagonists, collaborations, and merchandise— all ahead of its anticipated launch on Nintendo Switch 2. Resident Evil Requiem will see players step into the shoes of two main characters: FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and legendary DSO agent Leon Kennedy.

This dual-protagonist approach offers a blend of high-octane action and classic survival horror, a series hallmark.

Confirming earlier details, Capcom reiterated that both characters are fully playable in both first-person and third-person perspectives, switchable at any moment for a more immersive or dynamic experience as players see fit. Leon Kennedy returns with his signature blend of firearms expertise and hand-to-hand combat skills, taking on an investigation into a string of mysterious deaths.

Players will have access to a variety of weapons, including an all-new hatchet for close-quarters combat.

The Showcase detailed new mechanics such as parrying enemy attacks, wielding a chainsaw seized from foes, and executing dramatic finishing moves.

These mechanics are set to enhance the challenge and depth of moment-to-moment gameplay on the Nintendo Switch 2. Grace Ashcroft’s campaign begins in a zombie-infested sanatorium, placing heightened emphasis on resource management and decision-making.

With limited inventory space, players must choose carefully which battles to fight or avoid.

Capcom explained that Grace can craft vital items using a special device that utilizes infected blood, allowing for a wider array of attack strategies.

The Requiem assault revolver, a powerful custom weapon, offers significant firepower but comes with extremely limited ammunition, amplifying survival tension. Zombies in Resident Evil Requiem will behave in unpredictable ways, sometimes reenacting routines from their pre-infected lives—such as a chef obsessively cooking or a janitor meticulously polishing mirrors.

Capcom highlighted how players could potentially use these behaviors to their tactical advantage. A central narrative thread, denoted by the keyword "Elpis," binds the stories of Grace, Leon, and other key figures.

It ties together the fate of Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace’s mysterious past, and the unfolding events surrounding Leon’s mission.

Unlocking the truth behind "Elpis" stands as the core objective for players. On the accessibility front, multiple difficulty settings are available.

Players seeking a more casual experience benefit from aim assist and increased resilience, while classic difficulty heightens the challenge by requiring resource-intensive Ink Ribbons for saving progress as Grace. Capcom also announced two major collaborations for Resident Evil Requiem.

Swiss watchmaker Hamilton has partnered with Capcom to produce exclusive replicas of the watches worn by Leon and Grace in-game: the Khaki Field Auto Chrono and Pan Europ Automatic.

Limited to just 2,000 units for each model, the watches will be available for purchase starting February 27, 2026—the same day as the Nintendo Switch 2 game release. Automotive enthusiasts can look forward to a unique collaboration with Porsche.

A custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, designed using advanced 3D printing, will be featured as Leon’s in-game vehicle, complementing the game’s survival themes and adding an extra layer of authenticity to the character’s journey. Additional reveals from the Showcase include the upcoming release of 1/6 scale figures for Grace and Leon, with collectible options as individual pieces or paired sets.

These figures align with previous Collector’s Editions and are set to release in fall 2026.

Furthermore, Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary will be celebrated with Symphony of Legacy orchestral concerts across Japan, North America, and Europe later this year. Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026.

Capcom has also confirmed upcoming accessories including a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and themed amiibo for the game.

With a blend of fresh gameplay innovations, cross-industry collaborations, and nods to longtime fans, Resident Evil Requiem is shaping up as a compelling new entry in Capcom’s storied franchise.
