The developer confirmed that the project pairs a rebuilt audio engine with newly recorded dialogue, updated voice acting, support for modern surround standards and an additional 43 minutes of music that were not present in the first release.
Context and scope
Rayman Legends Retold preserves the core soundtrack that helped define the original game while expanding its musical and narrative presentation.
Ubisoft described the work as a complete audio modernization: the remake replaces the prior in-house audio framework with a contemporary engine that adds positional audio, clearer foreground/background acoustic separation, improved material realism and better sound prioritization to aid gameplay readability.
What’s new in the soundtrack
The remaster retains nearly all of the original compositions by Christophe Héral and Billy Martin, and supplements them with 43 minutes of new music.
New pieces include additional Dragon Ride tracks, music written for an entirely new realm and extra musical levels.
Ubisoft said orchestral recordings were performed by a 75-piece symphonic orchestra in Vienna, and noted that composer Grant Kirkhope contributed new music for the newly introduced Land of the Livid Dead realm.
Musical levels and gameplay
The team is expanding the game’s music-driven stages.
Returning musical favorites such as “The Eye of the Tiger” and “Black Betty” will appear alongside fresh tracks, and Ubisoft has already revealed one new musical level that features a Macarena cover.
The company confirmed that additional music-driven stages will be announced later.
Dialogue, voice talent and narrative changes
Retold introduces a stronger narrative framework tied to progression through worlds, supported by newly recorded dialogue and expanded character performances.
Ubisoft confirmed the return of longtime Rayman voice talent, including David Gasman as Rayman and Billy West as Murphy, while noting that new performances were recorded for other major characters such as Barbara.
Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition audio updates
Bundled with Rayman Legends Retold, Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition also receives audio upgrades.
The update modernizes the audio engine, remasters assets, adds support for 5.1 surround sound and applies a refreshed mix intended to improve clarity and listening comfort.
Additional materials
Ubisoft has released a “Behind the Music” video that walks through the audio work on Rayman Legends Retold.
The announcement will be of interest to players and retailers across platforms, including those who monitor Nintendo Direct updates and eShop listings for remasters and enhanced editions.
