Rayman Legends Retold for Switch 2: Ubisoft Announces October 1 Release and New Visual Upgrades

Ubisoft has formally announced Rayman Legends Retold for Nintendo Switch 2, confirming a release date of October 1 and a suggested price of $39.99 / €39.99.

The remastered package revisits the last mainline Rayman title, originally released in 2013 on Wii U and later issued as a Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch in 2017.

Following earlier leaks tied to the State of Play showcase, Ubisoft positioned the new release as a renewed entry in the series’ catalog.

In its announcement the publisher described the title as a continuation of Rayman’s legacy, framing Rayman Legends Retold as both a visual overhaul and an expanded edition of the platformer fans remember.

What’s different in Rayman Legends Retold

According to Ubisoft’s information, Rayman Legends Retold delivers significant visual and presentation upgrades.

Backgrounds are reported to be far more detailed compared with earlier releases, the camera is no longer fixed to a strict 2D plane in some sequences, and character models for Rayman and his companions have been refreshed.

The update also introduces new 3D sequences — including on-rails dragon rides — and additional levels not present in prior editions.

The announcement lists the following verified features:

- Redesigned 3D visuals and more detailed backgrounds

- A brand-new story and fully voiced cinematics

- A sixth realm not previously available in other editions

- Four new musical stages and expanded soundtrack work

- New Cave of Trials challenges and improved gameplay systems

- Return of the Kung Foot multiplayer mode with adjusted controls and customizable rules

- Additional on-rails dragon ride sequences

Soundtrack credits included in Ubisoft’s materials name composers Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope as contributors to the expanded score.

Bonus content and technical notes

Ubisoft also confirmed that Rayman Legends Retold will ship alongside Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition.

The Origins remaster is advertised with 4K resolution support, 60fps performance, and new collectibles and features compared with the original release.

Rayman Legends Retold will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop at launch on October 1.

With the franchise’s return to Nintendo hardware, the package aims to offer both longtime fans and new players a polished, updated version of one of Ubisoft’s most acclaimed platformers.
