French Fan Creates Stunning Super Mario GPS Art in Paris for MAR10 Day In celebration of MAR10 Day—an annual event that pays tribute to Nintendo’s iconic Super Mario franchise—a French fan has taken dedication to new levels by transforming the streets of Paris into a sprawling canvas.

Guillaume Lazert, an avid enthusiast known as a "GPS artist," covered an astounding 110 kilometers (approximately 68 miles) on foot and bike, tracing a detailed outline of Mario’s face using the popular activity tracking app, Strava. Guillaume Lazert is recognized in the GPS art community for crafting intricate images by planning and recording routes via GPS technology.

Prior to this ambitious endeavor, Lazert has sketched both the Eiffel Tower and a map of France through similar methods.

For MAR10 Day 2025, Lazert set out for a unique tribute—by walking 50 kilometers on Sunday, March 9th, and cycling an additional 60 kilometers on the official MAR10 date, he was able to complete a massive and unmistakable Mario-shaped design when viewed digitally on Strava. The feat required over ten and a half hours of continuous activity, blazing a trail that surprised even seasoned GPS artists.

The innovative artwork was shared widely across social media, including a post from Nintendeal on BlueSky, inspiring and astonishing Super Mario fans around the globe. Speaking to French publication Le Figaro, Lazert recounted the nostalgic significance of the project: “My very first video game was Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64,” Lazert explained.

“The experience of covering these 110 kilometers brought back countless memories.

I never imagined retracing Mario across the streets of Paris; this time, it felt like Mario was playing with me, rather than the other way around.” Nintendo celebrated MAR10 Day 2025 with a range of activities and updates for fans worldwide, including a free Alarmo update for Super Mario Bros.

and special discounts on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Additionally, the company unveiled a first look at the forthcoming Super Mario Kart LEGO set, now available for pre-order. Guillaume Lazert’s record-breaking GPS art stands as a testament to the enduring influence and creativity inspired by Nintendo’s flagship franchise.
