QUByte Interactive Expands QUByte Emulation Engine with PS1 Support: Announces Three Classic PlayStation Titles for Modern Platforms QUByte Interactive, a notable figure in retro gaming preservation, has announced the addition of PlayStation 1 support to its QUByte Emulation Engine (QEE), marking a significant step for classic game accessibility.

The news was officially unveiled during the QUByte Connect 2025 showcase event, held on October 30th, where the company detailed not only the engine’s technical capabilities but also its first wave of retro PS1 releases destined for a new generation of gamers. Launching “very soon” on modern platforms—including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox families, as well as PC—the inaugural trio consists of three unique and rarely re-released titles from the late 1990s.

Among these are the 3D platform shooter "One" (1997) by Visual Concepts, the whimsical multiplayer racer "Motor Mash" (1997) from Eutechnyx, and King of the Jungle’s sci-fi flight combat game "Invasion from Beyond" (1998), released in Europe as "B-Movie." While these selections are unconventional compared to more widely celebrated classics, QUByte Interactive is positioning them as fresh opportunities for retro enthusiasts and collectors.

As noted during the showcase, these games each occupy a distinct niche in the original PlayStation library.

For example, Visual Concepts’ "One" offered a gritty, cinematic shooting experience that divided critics upon its debut, with some outlets such as Game Informer and GameFan praising its ambition, while others—including IGN—found fault with its challenging visuals and gameplay clarity.

Eutechnyx’s "Motor Mash" received mixed acclaim; Computer & Video Games magazine commented in 1997 that, despite its graphical prowess, it brought "nothing new” to the competitive multiplayer racing scene then dominated by franchises like Micro Machines.

Likewise, "Invasion from Beyond" struggled to find a foothold with critics, receiving pointed remarks from Next Generation magazine, which suggested the game was best left in the “bargain bin.” Despite their rocky reception at launch, these games maintain a cult status among dedicated PlayStation aficionados, largely due to their distinct mechanics and offbeat charm.

QUByte Interactive acknowledged this, stating during QUByte Connect that the initial lineup is tailored for audiences seeking out the era’s more unusual and obscure releases.

The company further affirmed its commitment to the ongoing preservation and accessibility of video game history, with a spokesperson announcing that, "This is just the beginning—many more cult favourites are on the way for fans of classic gaming." With the QUByte Emulation Engine’s expanded compatibility, retro gamers and newer audiences alike can experience these PS1 oddities with modern conveniences and improved performance.

The addition of PS1 support to QEE broadens the platform’s growing catalog, joining previous releases on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

As digital storefronts such as the Nintendo eShop continue to thrive amid rising interest in legacy content, QUByte’s approach underscores the importance of revisiting—even the lesser-known—chapters of gaming history. Stay tuned for further announcements as QUByte Interactive continues to unveil more classic PlayStation titles and expands its footprint within the retro emulation space.
