Falcom Sets Japanese Release Date for Ys Memoire: Memories of Celceta Nintendo Switch Remaster
Nihon Falcom, the storied developer behind the Ys series, has announced that the remastered version of Ys Memoire: Memories of Celceta will launch for Nintendo Switch in Japan on May 22, 2025.
Originally released for PlayStation Vita in 2012, this acclaimed action RPG is finally making its debut on Nintendo’s flagship handheld-console hybrid, carrying forward a legacy that has resonated with fans worldwide.
Ys Memoire: Memories of Celceta once again places players in the shoes of Adol Christin, the franchise’s iconic red-haired adventurer.
In a narrative marked by identity, mystery, and classic JRPG exploration, Adol awakens in the enigmatic Forest of Celceta suffering from amnesia.
Joined by companions who claim to have shared a past with him, he embarks on a quest to uncover his lost memories and navigate the dangers lurking within the vast woodland—a premise that has remained a fan favorite since its original launch.
This Nintendo Switch remaster brings a host of enhancements tailored for modern audiences, including an arranged soundtrack that promises to elevate the game's already celebrated musical score.
According to information on Falcom’s official website, the physical edition available in Japan will feature reversible cover art and an exclusive two-disc soundtrack CD, with a retail price set at ¥4,840 via the Falcom Shop.
Although publisher Nihon Falcom has not confirmed a Western localization for the Switch version at this time, history offers hope for international fans.
The Oath in Felghana, another entry in the Ys saga, followed a similar release pattern—arriving in the West approximately two years after its Japanese debut.
The original PS Vita version of Memories of Celceta received praise from critics such as Push Square, who highlighted its engaging gameplay and revered soundtrack, aspects which the remaster aims to further enhance on Nintendo hardware.
Currently, Memories of Celceta is available outside Japan on platforms like PS4, PS Vita, and PC.
However, demand remains strong for a Switch edition, given the console’s portability and growing eShop library of classic JRPGs.
The continued partnership between Falcom and Nintendo demonstrates a flourishing era for beloved series returning to new audiences on updated hardware.
