Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket Unveils Wisdom of Sea and Sky Expansion for July 2025

The Pokémon Company International has officially announced the upcoming Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, set to launch on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

This highly anticipated update will introduce fans to a range of beloved Pokémon originating from the Johto region, first seen in the iconic Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver games on Nintendo hardware.

Available globally on iOS via the App Store and Android through Google Play, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket continues to expand its content and features for its growing community. The Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion highlights the arrival of fan-favorite Johto Pokémon, with trainers set to encounter well-known creatures such as Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.

Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh will also make their Pocket debut, further enriching the roster for collectors and competitive players alike. Building on its tradition of innovation, this expansion will also see the introduction of Pokémon cards featuring attacks that require no Energy, offering trainers exciting new ways to strategize both deck building and in-game battles.

This fresh gameplay mechanic is designed to increase accessibility and deck diversity, encouraging players to experiment with novel tactical options. Coinciding with the expansion’s release are significant updates to the game's Trade feature, aimed at enhancing the trading experience for the global community.

The new Wishlist Feature will allow players to openly share the cards they are seeking.

By accessing the Wishlist from the My Cards screen, users can add up to 20 desired cards, with the option to spotlight three on their public profile, streamlining the process of finding trade partners. Additionally, the Trade system will see noteworthy revisions.

Trade tokens, previously used as a trading currency, will be phased out.

Players will no longer need to obtain this token to complete trades.

Instead, a resource called shinedust will be required for trading cards of higher rarities (♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦, and ★).

Shinedust can be earned by fulfilling in-game missions, achieving tasks, or acquiring duplicate cards.

To ensure a smooth transition, existing trade tokens may be exchanged for pack hourglasses and shinedust at the in-game shop.

Trading cards for trade tokens will be discontinued starting July 30, 2025, at 01:00 UTC, following completion of the scheduled update.
