Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is set for a major content update on Nintendo Switch, as The Pokémon Company officially announces the release dates for its next digital expansion, ‘Space-Time Smackdown,’ and the highly anticipated in-app trade feature.

Both updates bring fresh excitement to the growing Pokémon TCG Pocket player community and mark a significant milestone for the game’s digital evolution on the Nintendo eShop. The game’s new trade functionality will launch first, going live on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

According to an official update from The Pokémon Company, trading will be possible exclusively between friends and will be restricted to cards of the same rarity—covering ranges from ◇1-◇4 and ☆1 cards.

Executing a trade will require consumable items within the app, adding another layer of resource management for collectors and gameplay strategists alike.

This update addresses a long-requested feature by players seeking to complete collections and engage more actively with friends within Pokémon TCG Pocket. Arriving a day later, on January 29 (or January 30, depending on time zone), is the ‘Space-Time Smackdown’ expansion.

This latest expansion places Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia—iconic figures from the Sinnoh region—at the forefront.

The expansion introduces a brand-new suite of full art cards, EX cards, and immersive new Trainer cards, inviting players to experience fresh strategy opportunities and awe-inspiring card artwork.

Highlighted as dimension-bending Pokémon ex, Dialga and Palkia bring a dynamic edge to digital battles, connecting classic mechanics with modern gameplay enhancements for the Nintendo Switch audience.
