The mobile app update will add a new slate of cards centered on Rayquaza and include a series of interface and collection improvements for players on iOS and Android.
Ruler of the Skies centers on Rayquaza, with Mega Rayquaza ex making its debut in the Pokémon TCG Pocket app.
The expansion also introduces Mega ex cards for Metagross and Gallade, alongside a Dragonair full-art card revealed in early previews.
These inclusions join the app's existing catalogue and will be distributed through the expansion's booster packs when the set launches.
In its update notes, The Pokémon Company framed the announcement as part of its regular late-month preview cycle for the TCG Pocket app.
The developer confirmed several user-facing features that will arrive with the expansion: players will be able to share complete deck lists via pattern codes, cards that appear across multiple booster packs will be catalogued in every relevant slot of the in-app card dex, and the opening of some booster packs will guarantee a four-diamond or higher rarity pull when specific conditions are met during the pack opening process.
The pattern code deck-sharing system is aimed at simplifying deck distribution and replication within the TCG Pocket community, allowing players to export and import decks more easily than manual list copying.
The card dex change ensures that duplicated appearances of a card across different boosters are reflected consistently in a player's collection view.
This release is specifically targeted at Pokémon TCG Pocket on mobile platforms.
While the Pokémon TCG has a long history on Nintendo hardware and through storefronts such as the Nintendo eShop, Ruler of the Skies is a mobile-focused expansion for the TCG Pocket app and not a separate Nintendo Switch release.
Ruler of the Skies arrives 30 July 2026 at the times noted above.
Collectors and competitive players familiar with the TCG Pocket ecosystem can expect the new Mega ex cards and quality-of-life improvements to appear immediately when the update goes live.
The Pokémon Company will publish final patch notes and complete card lists on its official channels concurrent with the expansion launch.
