The Pokémon Company has unveiled a brand-new initiative aimed at bringing the magic of its universe to urban environments with the debut of the Pokopia Garden in Acton Park, London.
This unique project, launched on March 31, 2024, transforms city spaces into immersive gardens infused with the iconic flora and joyful spirit of the Pokémon franchise.
The garden is set to remain open to visitors until September 30, offering an extended opportunity for fans and families to connect with Pokémon outside of their Nintendo Switch or mobile devices.
Pokopia Garden, inspired by the vibrant habitats featured in the latest Pokémon titles, stands as the first of several planned public installations across Europe.
The garden boasts an array of plant life modeled after the world of Pokémon, as well as colorful cutouts and displays of various fan-favorite characters from recent Pokémon games.
This initiative continues The Pokémon Company’s commitment to fostering community engagement, following successful events like Pokémon GO Fest and pop-up Pokémon Centers in major cities worldwide.
Visitors to the Acton Park Pokopia Garden will also find special in-game features for Pokémon GO, developed by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company.
The park includes newly designated PokéStops and Gyms, seamlessly blending real-world exploration with the interactive gameplay that has made Pokémon GO a global phenomenon on iOS and Android platforms.
These community nodes offer trainers a chance to collect items, battle, and collaborate on raids within a lush, themed environment.
Speaking on the project, a representative for The Pokémon Company stated that the Pokopia Garden initiative is designed "to celebrate Pokémon’s connection to nature and inspire families to explore the outdoors together." By integrating gameplay elements and visual storytelling, the company aims to bridge digital and physical experiences, continuing its tradition of innovation since the original Pokémon games for Game Boy and the franchise’s ongoing success on the Nintendo Switch and eShop.
Following the London debut, additional Pokopia Gardens are scheduled to launch in Berlin and Paris later this year.
These pop-up gardens mark a significant expansion of Pokémon-themed public events in Europe and reflect the enduring popularity of the series, which has sold over 440 million games worldwide as of March 2024.
Pokopia Gardens are open daily and free of charge, welcoming visitors of all ages and offering a unique destination for both local residents and tourists.
As The Pokémon Company continues to roll out new experiences across Europe, Pokémon fans can look forward to more interactive spaces that enrich both outdoor play and the wider community of trainers.
