Pikuniku 2 Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 — Devolver Digital Announces 2027 eShop Release

Devolver Digital has officially announced Pikuniku 2, the sequel to the acclaimed indie puzzler, for Nintendo Switch 2 with a worldwide digital release on the Nintendo eShop slated for 2027.

Developed by Pikuniku creators Arnaud De Bock and Rémi Forcadell, the follow-up transitions the series into full 3D while retaining the original’s whimsical tone and offbeat humor.

According to the publisher’s announcement, Pikuniku 2 casts players as Piku once more, this time embarking on an archipelago-spanning quest after a chaotic opening involving an escaped sandwich and a boat wreck.

Devolver described the premise as a rescue and return mission: with Piku’s friends scattered across islands, he must track them down and ultimately find his way home.

The publisher outlined several core features intended to define the sequel’s gameplay and aesthetic.

Devolver highlighted a narrative thread that blends bright, playful visuals with darker social themes under the heading “Deep State Conspiracies,” saying the colorful world masks more sinister attempts to extract profit from its inhabitants.

The team also emphasized “Playful Puzzles,” noting that Piku’s expanded set of abilities will drive increasingly inventive puzzle design.

“Strange Encounters” promise a roster of eccentric characters with unique stories to tell, and the game’s environments are described as bold, high-contrast 3D spaces — referred to in the announcement as “eye‑melting environments” — which aim to broaden navigation and exploration possibilities.

Devolver released a trailer and screenshots alongside the announcement, giving an early look at the game’s new 3D art direction and character designs.

The publisher’s materials also tease encounters with giant fruit, malevolent robot frogs, and an all‑powerful potato, all of which were called out in the announcement as part of the sequel’s quirky bestiary and narrative hooks.

Pikuniku originally launched to positive reception for its distinctive visuals, humor, and puzzle-platforming, and Pikuniku 2 will be the franchise’s first entry targeted at Nintendo’s next-generation handheld-home hybrid platform, the Nintendo Switch 2.

With a 2027 eShop release confirmed, more detailed information — including release date specifics, pricing, and platform features — is expected as Devolver Digital rolls out further promotional materials and updates.
