Both anime series adapt key entries in Atlus’s long-running JRPG franchise: the original Persona 4 story and the expanded Golden content.
All 26 episodes of Persona 4: The Animation and all 12 episodes of Persona 4: The Golden Animation are currently available to stream via Aniplex USA’s official YouTube channel for a limited time.
Persona 4: The Animation, directed by Seiji Kishi, originally aired from October 2011 through March 2012 and follows the narrative of the original PlayStation 2 release.
Persona 4: The Golden Animation followed in 2014 and incorporates additional scenarios introduced in Persona 4 Golden.
This release comes at a time when the franchise has renewed visibility across platforms.
Persona 4 Golden is available on Nintendo Switch, and critics have continued to praise the title: in a 2023 review that awarded the game a 9/10, reviewers noted that while the visuals may feel dated, the strength of the gameplay and story more than justify a purchase, and the Golden edition’s gameplay and content improvements smooth many of the rougher edges from the original PS2 release.
On the hardware front, Sega has not confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 release for the upcoming Persona 4 Revival, which is scheduled for release on 18 February 2027.
Sega and Atlus continue to support Nintendo platforms; the companies plan to release Metaphor: ReFantazio on 12 November 2026, and Persona 3 Reload reached Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025, demonstrating ongoing third-party support for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
How to watch: head to Aniplex USA’s YouTube channel to find playlists for both series while the free window remains open.
Persona fans who prefer to play can find Persona 4 Golden on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
This limited-time streaming move offers both long-time followers and newcomers an accessible way to revisit or experience the Persona 4 era ahead of future franchise releases.
