Persona 4 Remake Hinted by New Domain Registration: Could Persona 4 Reload Come to Nintendo Switch 2?
Atlus, the acclaimed developer known for its Persona series, may be preparing a major surprise for fans of Japanese RPGs and Nintendo hardware alike.
The company’s acclaimed 2024 release, Persona 3 Reload, breathed new life into a classic title, although it notably bypassed the Nintendo Switch.
Now, evidence is mounting that a remake of Persona 4 is in the works—suggesting that Persona 4 Reload may be announced in the near future, possibly targeting the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.
According to reports from Insider Gaming and findings by YouTuber ScrambledFaz, the domain 'p4re.jp' was officially registered on March 20, 2025.
This follows an established pattern: the domain for Persona 3 Reload ('p3re.jp') was registered in March two years prior, with an official announcement coming three months after.
While Atlus has not released an official statement regarding Persona 4 Reload, the timing of these registrations hints strongly at ongoing development.
A spokesperson summarizing the domain discovery noted that the sequence mirrors Atlus’s approach with their previous remake.
"In 2023, the domain for Persona 3 Reload was registered and the game was revealed three months later.
The new Persona 4 domain fuels expectations that a Persona 4 Reload announcement could follow suit," the summary explained.
Historically, Atlus has been a strong supporter of Nintendo platforms, bringing earlier Persona titles such as Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal to the Nintendo Switch and eShop.
While Persona 3 Reload has yet to land on the Switch’s current generation, fans of the franchise remain hopeful for a simultaneous or post-launch release for both Persona 3 Reload and the newly teased Persona 4 Reload on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Atlus’s continued partnership with Nintendo, combined with the proven demand for high-quality RPG experiences, sets a promising stage for the next generation of the hybrid console.
Although neither Atlus nor Nintendo has confirmed any plans for Persona 4 Reload or a Switch 2 release, the pattern of prior domain registrations and the studio’s legacy with ports give substance to these growing expectations.
Persona 4, originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, is widely considered one of the defining entries in the franchise, cementing Atlus's reputation as a leader in story-driven RPG development.
The idea of a fully remade Persona 4 arriving on modern Nintendo hardware would mark a major milestone, appealing both to longstanding fans and first-time players eager to experience the beloved title.
For now, the Nintendo community continues to await official news, keeping a close eye on Atlus’s movements.
As anticipation builds around the future of Persona remakes and the potential of the Nintendo Switch 2, both the gaming industry and dedicated fans alike are primed for another breakthrough reveal.
